SANTA BARBARA, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/11/13 -- Eucalyptus Systems, the leading provider of open source software for building AWS-compatible private and hybrid clouds, today announced its sponsorship and participation at AWS re:Invent, taking place November 12-15, 2013 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Eucalyptus will showcase how to develop applications locally and deploy globally using the combination of Eucalyptus and AWS clouds. Key activities Eucalyptus will be hosting and participating in include:
AWS re:Invent GameDay
When: November 12 at 11:00 a.m. P.T.
Where: Room Venetian B
Details: Limited to the first 100 participants, GameDay aims to teach cloud developers how to diagnose, repair and protect against broken cloud applications. In a live competition, teams will build their own loosely coupled, auto-scaling applications on-site. Once applications are built, teams will attempt to break their opponents' systems in the sneakiest and most nefarious ways possible, while simultaneously trying to maintain their own workload. While the majority of these exercises will be run on the AWS cloud, Eucalyptus has been invited to contribute by allowing GameDay participants to run tests on a EucaNUC cloud, demonstrating key AWS API compatibility.
CoreSite Cocktail Party
When: November 12 at 8:00 p.m. P.T.
Where: Lavo Italian Restaurant and Nightclub - Palazzo Hotel
Details: To kick off the first night of AWS re:Invent, Eucalyptus is sponsoring CoreSite's exclusive Exchange Party. Attendees will have the opportunity to network with industry peers at this private event hosted by Open Cloud Exchange participants and partners.
Eucalyptus Demo: Controlling Your Own Availability Zone - How to Save $600M
When: November 13 at 3:30 p.m. P.T.
Where: CoreSite Booth #701
Details: If you work for the CIA, or have a spare $600M to burn, this session is not for you. For everyone else, this interactive session will describe how innovative companies are lowering development costs, increasing agility, and giving DevOps control over the cloud. Join Eucalyptus' senior product marketing manager, Colby Dyess, to discover how to run your own availability zone and see a live hybrid cloud demonstration using AWS and Eucalyptus.
Eucalyptus-Powered Cloud Packs
When: Tuesday, November 12 - Friday, November 15
Where: Eucalyptus Booth #429
Details: Eucalyptus' technical experts will be on hand with customized backpacks containing fully functional Eucalyptus clouds. Each backpack includes a power supply, wireless router and Intel NUC devices. Eucalyptus team members will also be carrying Kindle devices configured to show attendees the Eucalyptus 3.4 User Console and Netflix OSS tools. All re:Invent attendees are encouraged to try out the software right from the cloud in a pack!
Throughout the event, Eucalyptus will give away several USB flash pens with FastStart preloaded, allowing individuals to create a mini development and test cloud with 30-minute automated installation pre-configured for CentOS and KVM. Attendees can also enter a raffle for a chance to win one of three Amazon Kindle Readers. Additionally, attendees are encouraged to stop by the Eucalyptus booth #429 to see a full product demo and meet with Eucalyptus executives to learn more about how applications can be developed locally on Eucalyptus and deployed globally on AWS.
