TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 11/13/13 -- eDev Technologies today announces the Global release of SmartOffice4TFS (www.SmartOffice4TFS.com), a suite of products that includes SmartWord4TFS and SmartVisio4TFS.
SmartOffice4TFS provides stakeholders with a direct, two-way connection between Microsoft Office and Team Foundation Server via lightweight plugins for Microsoft Word and Microsoft Visio.
Many stakeholders of software development projects currently work in a disconnected environment where authoring tools such as Microsoft Word stand separated from Team Foundation Server (TFS), the central hub for project requirements, code management, development and testing.
Usually business project stakeholders do not have access to a Team Foundation Server project, so they rely on colleagues to re-enter textual requirements. eDev's solution creates a more efficient workflow by removing redundancy and inaccuracy. As well, stakeholders - Agile stakeholders, in particular - often find it advantageous to define project requirements visually using common tools such as Microsoft Visio. However today, these visualizations can only be loaded into TFS as images. The good news is that eDev Technologies has developed an affordable solution to these business challenges. It's called SmartOffice4TFS.
SmartOffice4TFS is the missing link in the application lifecycle management (ALM) process, bringing TFS connectivity into Microsoft Office. SmartOffice4TFS provides stakeholders with a direct, two-way integration between Office and TFS via lightweight plugins for Word and Visio.
"eDev's SmartOffice4TFS gives development teams another great option for requirements gathering and creation of software specs using familiar Microsoft products, and connecting those documents to the projects they define," said Mitra Azizirad, General Manager, Developer Tools Marketing and Sales, Microsoft. "This focus on enabling teams of any size to more seamlessly manage the lifecycle of existing and new applications is core to delivering value for our shared customers."
"Usability is the first challenge user's face. We've seen other tools in the past that have attempted to build a Word-TFS bridge. They looked more like tools created by programmers for programmers so we set out to fix that issue right upfront" says Asif Sharif, Chief Technologist at eDev. "SmartOffice4TFS will suit the needs of every stakeholder on your team, from the developer to the end-user. Collaboration has never been easier."
"As a Microsoft VSIP partner, we strive to enrich the Visual Studio platform with unique and results-oriented products that drive greater value to each client's Visual Studio investment by providing enhanced functionality and usability", says Bob Savelson, SVP Sales and Marketing, eDev Technologies.
SmartWord4TFS is available for license at $300 per seat and SmartVisio4TFS at $400 per seat.
SmartOffice4TFS will have its Global debut alongside Microsoft at their VS2013 release in New York on Wednesday, Nov 13th, 2013. Please join online for this exciting event.
