The Red Herring 100 Awards recognize the top 100 startups from Asia, Europe and the Americas, and are widely viewed as one of the most prestigious recognitions in the industry. Each year, Red Herring sees up to 1,000 startups from each continent competing for recognition.

In September, Couchbase launched the JSON Anywhere mobile strategy, making it the first vendor to offer a native NoSQL database for mobile devices, and the company expanded its mobile strategy into China in early November.
