BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA -- (Marketwired) -- 12/03/13 -- AssetWorks Inc., a leading provider of asset management software solutions, today announced that Louisiana State University (LSU) has signed a contract for asset and inventory management software from AssetWorks. The contract calls for a customized solution to meet all of the University's needs while interfacing with AssetWorks' Asset Management Software (AMS) already used throughout State of Louisiana. Together, AMS and Scan & Validate can help the University maintain proper stewardship of assets and reduce the amount of time it takes to complete a physical inventory.
"As a large, research University, effectively managing our movable assets is critical," said Marie Frank, Executive Director of Procurement Services and Property Management, Louisiana State University. "We look forward to implementing these software solutions from AssetWorks."
With AMS and Scan & Validate, Louisiana State University can easily add new assets, transfer assets among departments, funds or locations, depreciate assets, and streamline their approach to conducting inventories. Bar code scanners provide users with the ability to scan items, edit asset information, and run missing items reports while in the field, helping LSU conduct physical inventories quickly and with minimal disruption.
In addition to these two solutions, the implementation also includes an interface with AssetWorks' Surplus Management Software (SMS), already being used by the State of Louisiana to manage surplus assets. The interface can allow LSU to transfer assets directly to State Surplus, taking advantage of AssetWorks' total solution for asset, inventory, and surplus management.
Louisiana State University first opened in 1860 as the Louisiana State Seminary & Military Academy. Today, the University boasts more than 70 undergraduate degree programs, serves nearly 30,000 students annually and manages over 150,000 movable assets from acquisition through disposal.
