SANTA CLARA, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/14/12 -- Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, and a Diamond Underwriter of the 2012 Uptime Institute Symposium focused on Digital Infrastructure Convergence, will provide its Data Center Facility Module at the event. Schneider Electric will feature a prefabricated 500kW Facility Power Module for live, guided tours at the Symposium as part of the Modular Data Center Campus. A key feature of the Symposium Exhibition in 2012, the Modular Campus showcases modular products and systems components and is open to all Symposium delegates and registered visitors of the Exhibition.
"Large data centers today require faster deployment at lower costs and high reliability, and Schneider Electric's prefabricated Facility Modules provide complete infrastructure to turn any available space including warehouses and former manufacturing plants into a state-of-the-art, highly available, and energy-efficient data center," said Neil Rasmussen, Senior Vice President of Innovation, Schneider Electric. "Attendees at Uptime Symposium 2012 will be able to see and experience for themselves why large scale modularity is growing in importance as a way to design and build energy-efficient data centers through the Modular Data Center Campus."
The Schneider Electric prefabricated Facility Module is typically deployed to provide conditioned power to either IT containers or data centers where the IT room is located within a building. When combined with a facility cooling module and IT room, the components make up a complete data center. Schneider Electric facility modules are pre-engineered, factory assembled and tested to ensure that proven performance is provided. These modules can be deployed within weeks, and can deliver Capex savings ranging from 10-20 percent and Opex savings ranging from 20-35 percent.
In addition to providing the data center facility module at the event, Schneider Electric executives will take part in the event through the following sessions:
After pioneering modularity within the data center's traditional IT space, Schneider Electric now brings the modular approach to the facility domains of data center physical infrastructure. This design/build approach transfers the time-intensive engineering and pretesting of facility-related data center components to the "factory," in turn making large and mega-sized data center deployment fast and easy. Schneider Electric Facility Modules, which include a power unit and two types of cooling (water chiller or air) units, complement IT containers to give companies the complete infrastructure support they need to turn available space (e.g., former warehouses or manufacturing plants) into highly available, energy-efficient, world-class data centers in just weeks. They also can be deployed to add capacity to existing data centers. This approach speeds up deployment, lowers costs, and simplifies the build process.
Schneider Electric will feature a 500kW Facility Power Module at the event. Power Modules are built in a repurposed 8' x 40' x 9.5' ISO shipping container and consist of a fully integrated power distribution system comprised of switchboards, automatic transfer switch, modular UPS system, cooling, fire suppression, controls and management system. The facility modules are engineered at various capacity points: 250kW, 500kW, 750kW, and 1MW.
Schneider Electric will also present a demo of its StruxureWare for Data Centers offering at booth #202. For more information, please visit www.schneider-electric.com.
