MEGGEN, SWITZERLAND -- (Marketwired) -- 01/15/14 -- Golden Frog, a global software and internet application development company, announced today that is has selected Switzerland as the location for its global headquarters. The company, which provides privacy and security applications and services to preserve an open and secure internet, was previously located in the Cayman Islands.
Demand from privacy minded consumer and business customers led Golden Frog to seek out a country that would not only appeal to its consumer customer base, but would meet the legal requirements of its business customers as well. Switzerland has a long history of respecting privacy and has established a legal framework to protect it. The right to privacy is guaranteed in Article 13 of the Swiss Federal Constitution. Privacy protections for online activities are provided for under Swiss Federal Data Protection Act (DPA) and the Swiss Federal Data Protection Ordinance (DPO). Unlike the data protection legislation of many other countries, the DPA protects both personal data pertaining to natural persons and legal entities. Switzerland has also established global frameworks and safe harbors with the EU, the United States and other countries, which extend privacy protection beyond its borders. In 2010, the Federal Supreme Court of Switzerland found that IP addresses are personal information and that under Swiss privacy laws they may not be used to track Internet usage without the knowledge of the individuals involved.
"While we considered many global hubs, Switzerland's privacy laws reflect our mission as a company," said Sunday Yokubaitis, President of Golden Frog. "Our customers around the world appreciate that we are incorporated in a country that respects the rights of Internet users."
While Golden Frog will establish its global headquarters in Switzerland, Golden Frog also owns and operates server clusters in North America, Europe, Asia and Oceania. The company owns and manages 100 percent of its servers, hardware and network, which ensures the highest possible level of privacy and speed for users. Its flagship offering,VyprVPN, is a secure personal VPN service that provides a secure, encrypted connection to the Internet to protect user privacy and security. Dump Trunk, the second product from Golden Frog, is a secure online storage solution that allows users to safely store and share all of their files and access them anywhere, and on any device.
Golden Frog's corporate headquarters is located at:
Golden Frog, GmbH
Obergrubenweg 8
6045 Meggen, Switzerland
