For the first time since 2008, Porsche is back at the Canadian International Auto Show for its 2014 edition. In addition showing its highly-anticipated Macan compact sport utility vehicle for the first time in Canada, the all-new 911 GT3 Cup car will be making its debut in the North American Auto Show circuit.

The new GT3 Cup car is powered by a 3.8-litre horizontally-opposed six cylinder engine. It generates 460 horsepower at 7,500 rpm, surpassing the predecessor by 10 hp. A six-speed dog-type gearbox developed by Porsche Motorsport which is operated via steering wheel mounted shift paddles - for the first time in a Porsche brand trophy race car - transmits the power to the rear axle.

The width of the Michelin race slicks was increased by two centimetres to 27 centimetres at the front and by 10 millimetres to 31 centimetres at the rear axle. The newly developed braking system consists of 380 millimetre slotted and inner-vented front steel brake rotors decelerated by six-piston aluminium fixed calipers. The rear axle features a four-piston version.

Look for the new race car to be competing in the Ultra 94 GT3 Cup Challenge Canada by Michelin series starting May 17th at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

The new Macan will be available in two versions: Macan S and Macan Turbo. Standard features include active all-wheel drive and the Porsche double-clutch gearbox (PDK). Powering the Macan S is a new Porsche-designed bi-turbo 3.0-litre V6 engine that delivers 340 horsepower and can accelerate to 100 km/h in as low as 5.2 seconds with the Sport Chrono package. The bi-turbo 3.6-litre V6 in the Macan Turbo produces 400 horsepower and reaches 100 km/h in as low as 4.6 seconds with Sport Chrono. Fuel efficiency is enhanced with an engine Start/Stop system.

The all-wheel drive system features a constantly-driven rear axle. If the rear wheels slip, up to 100% of the torque can be transferred to the front via an electronically controlled multi-plate clutch. The air suspension option allows the ride height to be increased by 40 mm to a maximum ground clearance of 230 millimetres.

The Macan S offers standard 18-inch wheels while the Macan Turbo comes with a 19-inch version. A vast range of wheels (up to 21 inches in size) is available on all Macan models. The use of mixed tires with different front and rear dimensions is typical of a sports car. On Macan S, 235/60 R 18 (front) and 255/55 R 18 (rear) tires are standard, while Macan Turbo features 235/55 R 19 (front) and 255/50 R 19 (rear). The low centre of gravity and 2,807-millimetre wheelbase, combined with the 1,655-millimetre front and 1,651-millimetres rear track, provide further stability.

The front section is a distinctive component of the Macan's design. The wraparound aluminium hood encloses the headlights and extends to the wheel arches. On Macan Turbo, "C-blade" stylistic elements are fitted in the air intakes on the right and left of the vehicle. Another highlight is the presence of "side blades" at the bottom of the doors, which are finished in black on Macan S and body coloured on Macan Turbo.

The 2015 Macan will arrive in Canadian dealerships in late spring 2014. Pricing will start at $54,300 for Macan S and $82,200 for Macan Turbo.
