SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwire) -- 05/16/12 -- Full Slate, a software company that specializes in online appointment scheduling, has devised an innovative way to help small businesses turn downtime into double time. Many services have a sort of 'intermission' when the client can be left unattended and the provider is idle. With a new feature called split appointments, a service provider can double book that span and fit in another client.
Split appointments are ideal for services that have a long lag in between, particularly in salons and spas where treatments often require processing time. For example, a hair stylist may spend an hour applying color to a client's hair at the beginning of an appointment and another hour at the end rinsing, drying and styling it, but there's at least 30-45 minutes in the middle waiting for the color to process. Most calendars would show that whole block as 'busy,' but Full Slate can now show the stylist as 'available' during the wait time.
"Our new split-appointment feature creates an open window so another client can fit into the schedule," said Chris Korol, Full Slate's vice president of products. "It helps small businesses fully utilize their most valuable resource -- their time."
"Split appointments has increased my business overnight. It's a must-have feature for every busy hairstylist," said Joey Furlan, owner of Hair By Joey and one of Seattle's top-rated stylists. "This upgrade, coupled with an already hassle-free service that my clients love, seals the deal with Full Slate! I'd never consider using any other online scheduler."
Associated Hair Professionals (AHP), a national organization that provides hairstylists and barbers with business tools, marketing resources, and professional liability insurance, concurs. It recently selected Full Slate as its preferred appointment scheduling software. This alliance recognizes the importance of time management for service professionals, specifically in the beauty industry.
Split-appointments is just one of several enhancements that Full Slate has released in the last three months to help small businesses make the most of their time. It previously launched "smart scheduling," which uses artificial intelligence to mimic how a business would schedule appointments by hand, including clustering appointments together to minimize idle time. Earlier this year, the online scheduling company debuted 2-way sync with Google Calendar.
