SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 03/25/14 -- Front End Ops Conference, a new event in San Francisco dedicated to the emerging discipline of front end applications engineering and operations, announced its complete speaker line up and presentations topics today.
Scheduled for April 24 - 25 in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood, the single-track conference will feature keynote presentations from Alex Sexton, Product Engineer at Stripe, and Paul Irish, Google Chrome Developer Advocate. It will also include talks given by an impressive array of web application developers and front end engineering luminaries. Organized in part by Sauce Labs and Airbrake, the event will also be sponsored by Etsy, Stripe, and others.
Alex Sexton, who first coined the term "front end operations" in Smashing Magazine, will open the conference with a talk discussing the current practice of front end operations and the changes -- and challenges -- that have emerged since his article was published in June, 2013. A sample of other notable presenters and their talks include:
There will be a total of 22 presentations over the two-day conference, with speakers coming from around the world and the United States. A full list of talk topics can be found here.
"When the notion of front end operations engineering first emerged, I didn't fully grasp how different the role is from the picture that people have in their head of a front end developer," said Alex Sexton, conference co-chair. "The driving force behind the Front End Ops Conference is to hear from developers and engineers who are helping shape this role, and to begin to open up the conversation to the entire development community."
The venue for Front End Ops Conference is the Terra Gallery, located on Rincon Hill in San Francisco's South of Market (SOMA) district. Speakers and attendees will be treated to breakfast and lunch consisting of locally grown and sustainable fare prepared by some of the city's best known purveyors, as well as after-event parties on both evenings, including a reception at one of the city's most distinctive landmarks, the Old Mint. About Front End Ops Conference
The Front End Ops Conference is a new two-day symposium that focuses on the emerging discipline of front end operations. The term "front end operations" was coined by conference co-chair Alex Sexton in an article published in Smashing Magazine in June, 2013 and describes the need for a new role in application development, one that is fully responsible for an application's external performance. Front End Ops Conf will be held on April 24-25, 2014 in San Francisco and will feature more than 20 presentations from a roster of leading web application developers and front end specialists. Net proceeds from the conference will be donated to Girls Who Code and Code.org.
