AJAX, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 04/01/14 -- Winter's icy grip on the country seems to have loosened, and with that, Volkswagen Canada saw stronger sales during the last week of March. A total of 4,026 new Volkswagens were sold during the month, bringing the year-to-date figure to 11,442.

"We now have ample inventory in place for the traditional spring selling season" stated Maria Stenstrom, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada. "The better weather always has a tremendous impact on sales activity."

April and May are traditionally the busiest months of the year in the car industry. In response Volkswagen has increased inventories of its most popular models, including the Jetta compact sedan. The Jetta, which saw deliveries of 2,207 units during the month of March, is now available with an all-new, powerful and lightweight 1.8L turbocharged engine.

This engine is also available in the Passat and Beetle, including the Beetle Convertible. It is an example of Volkswagen's "intelligent downsizing". Smaller, more efficient engines are coupled with turbochargers to ensure excellent performance and significant increases in fuel economy.

For those with an eye toward even greater economy, Volkswagen also offers a full lineup of vehicles powered by award-winning TDI Clean Diesel engines, as well as a turbocharged hybrid version of the Jetta.
