SANTA CLARA, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/11/14 -- vArmour, a stealth security company designed to protect the new data defined perimeter for enterprises, has appointed enterprise and security veteran Tim Eades as new Chief Executive Officer. Tim joins co-founders Roger Lian and Michael Shieh to launch vArmour's disruptive security technology that will elevate the level of protection surrounding global enterprises' increasingly distributed data.
"Today's post-mobile, post-cloud, post-virtualization world has created an environment in which corporate data assets are more distributed and constantly moving as it is being accessed from anywhere and at anytime. Old paradigms of security are simply no longer adequate," said Tim Eades, CEO, vArmour. "vArmour's data defined perimeter strategy is uniquely aligned to meet the changing landscape of cyber security today. I'm thrilled to be part of such a dynamic industry with a company that is truly changing how enterprises approach security."
With the rise and sophistication of cyber crime and breaches in the data center reaching record levels (54% of attacks involve compromised servers*), the enterprise is demanding a solution that provides stronger visibility and control of their greatest asset: their data. As massive, growing amounts of data continue to be distributed on a global scale, security solutions need to move beyond legacy network architectures, a problem vArmour's stealth security technology is directly addressing.
"Tim is a bolt of energy that can take vArmour's unique security technology to market in a way that nobody else can," says Corey Mulloy, general partner, Highland Capital Partners. "His vision, past successes in the enterprise security market and proven track record with high growth technology companies will make vArmour a company to watch."
Tim's relationships with global Fortune 500 executives, partners, investors and analysts complement the engineering powerhouse duo of co-founders Roger Lian and Michael Shieh. In their new roles as vice president of engineering and CTO, respectively, Roger and Michael will continue to innovate upon enterprise security while Tim drives company growth.
"I am extremely excited to welcome Tim as CEO to vArmour," says Roger Lian, co-founder and VP of engineering, vArmour. "Our company has made great strides in providing security offerings for the agile data center, with a strong focus on understanding the needs of enterprises and service providers. vArmour will be in great hands with Tim, who brings outstanding expertise in the networking and security industries, including a deep background in leveraging technology that will serve vArmour well. Tim has the ideal background to take vArmour to the next level."
Tim has extensive experience leading high growth security and enterprise software companies with successful exit strategies. Most recently Tim held the position of CEO of Silver Tail Systems, a fraud detection and prevention company that was acquired by RSA in 2012 (the security arm of EMC). Prior to that, Tim was CEO of Everyone.net, which was acquired by Proofpoint in 2009. Tim has also accumulated exceptional experience working with BEA Systems, IBM, Phoenix Technologies and Sana Security. Tim currently sits on the board of White Sky, Vorstack Corporation and Cake4Kids.
