FireEye Labs recently reported on an email spam campaign that it discovered was leveraging security evasion methods pioneered by advanced attackers. The campaign distributed up to 500,000 emails per outbreak and up to 6,400 different variants of its malware over the course of six months. In its analysis of the campaign, FireEye Labs found that traditional email security solutions failed to detect portions of the campaign's malware variants.
