SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 07/09/14 -- Midokura, a global company focused on network virtualization, announced a new partnership with Fujitsu Limited, a leading Japanese information and communication technology company. The companies will offer a joint solution that integrates Midokura's MidoNet network virtualization software with Fujitsu's private cloud platform software, Fujitsu Software ServerView Resource Orchestrator (ROR). The combined technology, based on the popular open source cloud management system, OpenStack, allows enterprise customers to simply and seamlessly build scalable and fault-tolerant multi-tenant private clouds. The joint technology will be available in December 2014.
"We are pleased to partner with Fujitsu to provide the industry with an innovative enterprise- grade joint solution that will vastly simplify the building and management of private clouds," said Dan Mihai Dumitriu, co-founder and CEO of Midokura. "Backed by Fujitsu's broad success and experience in cloud building services, coupled with our powerful network virtualization solution, MidoNet, customers will benefit immensely from our one stop service."
Because MidoNet allows customers to create a virtual network without any change in physical network topologies, enterprises can expect to dramatically reduce the time it takes to build IT systems and business applications. MidoNet is a software-based, highly distributed network virtualization system that allows enterprises and service providers to build, run and manage virtual networks with increased control and flexibility.
Fujitsu's ROR is a private cloud platform software that is globally deployed. The technology enables customers to optimize the cost by effective Information Communication Technology (ICT) resource management and benefit from efficient operation and management.
To reduce costs and avoid vendor lock-in, many enterprises today are turning to open source software and using industry standards within enterprise IT infrastructure. However, not many are deploying open source technology with network virtualization solutions, until now. Fujitsu can attest to this winning combination, as the company leveraged both OpenStack and MidoNet to build its own cloud management system, ROR.
According to Fujitsu, partnering with Midokura was a natural decision given that the MidoNet technology has long been integrated with OpenStack.
"We are pleased to have partnered with Midokura to offer solutions to enhance OpenStack-based clouds with network virtualization," said Takashi Fujiwara, Head of Platform Software Business Unit, Fujitsu Limited. "To meet the needs of our cloud customers, we have responded by adding OpenStack to our solution offerings, and we are continuing to invest in many areas -- such as deployment and operational support services, additional hardware support, and of course, we are working to improve Fujitsu Software ServerView Resource Orchestrator, our private cloud platform software. We are confident that by partnering with Midokura, we can successfully fulfill the needs of our cloud customers."
