WALNUT CREEK, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/07/14 -- WildPackets, Inc., a leading provider of network and application performance analysis solutions, today announced the release of Omnipliance WiFi, the industry's first Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN) analysis appliance to monitor, analyze, and troubleshoot distributed, multi-gigabit 802.11ac network traffic. With today's release WLAN administrators are now able to identify and solve network access, capacity, security, and performance problems as they occur, without ever leaving their desks.
With organizations rapidly transitioning to the 802.11ac wireless standard, wireless network data rates now easily exceed one gigabit per second (Gbps), and have been recorded maxing out at nearly seven gigabits per second. These speeds exceed the capabilities of the 433 Mbps capture-rate of traditional USB-based adapters for laptops that network engineers have been relying on for years to monitor and troubleshoot WLANs.
Once enterprises deploy 802.11ac, they need a new solution for analyzing Gigabit-speed WLANs -- WLANs that are carrying critical business traffic including Voice over Wi-Fi (VoFi) traffic -- and supporting the myriad BYOD devices prevalent on today's business networks. Omnipliance WiFi is the only WLAN analysis solution available today that provides the multi-Gigabit data capture, 24/7 enterprise-wide coverage, and time-saving analytics that enterprises need to properly manage their 802.11ac networks.
"With 802.11ac-based clients and BYOD converging in the form of unprecedented demand for high-performance, reliable Wi-Fi service everywhere, no organizational WLAN is today anything but mission-critical," said Craig Mathias, a Principal with the wireless and mobile advisory firm Farpoint Group. "Provisioning the assurance functionality necessary to keep both end-users and operations staffs productive is therefore essential, and assurance solutions today require both high capacity and a broad feature set to meet these requirements."
Omnipliance WiFi captures data directly from deployed access points, enabling real-time and forensic analysis to the most advanced WLAN traffic, including 4-stream 802.11ac traffic. Network engineers can troubleshoot and resolve problems immediately without the need for time-consuming on-site visits to WLAN locations. The solution supports round-the-clock analysis of all WLANs across the enterprise, and even allows engineers to review and troubleshoot intermittent problems that have occurred hours or days earlier.
"Wireless network forensics is rapidly becoming a must-have solution for enterprises," said Jay Botelho, Director of Product Management, WildPackets. "With detailed, real-time recording of network and user activity, Omnipliance WiFi gives network analysts all the data they need to troubleshoot instantly, enabling 24x7 enterprise-wide wireless infrastructure management at substantially lower costs and significantly improved mean time to resolution of wireless issues."
WildPackets Omnipliance WiFi will be available within 45 days. For more information, visit www.wildpackets.com.
