FAIRFAX, VA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/24/14 -- Invincea, Inc., the market leader in advanced threat protection endpoint security, today announced that it has been issued two new patents from the US Patent & Trademark Office for protecting endpoint devices against advanced cyber-security threats. The patents protect Invincea's IP in attack detection, isolation and containerization of threats, and threat intelligence collection to defeat advanced cyber threats, while strengthening an organization's broader security infrastructure.
The US Patent and Trademark Office issued Patent #8,839,422 for "Virtual Browsing Environment" and Patent #8,856,782 for "On-Demand Disposable Virtual Work System". Invincea's growing patent portfolio includes: isolation, containerization and detection techniques for protecting operating systems from targeted attacks. The company has another 6 patents in related cyber-security technologies pending, bringing the total number of pending and issued patents to 11.
"The award of these patents on our core IP dating back to 2007 secures Invincea's intellectual property in defining its market leading isolation and containerization approaches for protection against cyber security threats. The awarded patents recognize the innovation behind Invincea's products and buttresses our position as the market leading Advanced Threat Protection solution for endpoint devices," said CEO and Founder Anup Ghosh at Invincea. "The market is signaling the rapid adoption of containerization approaches for security. Gartner analyst Neal MacDonald predicts that by the end of 2016, 20 percent of enterprises will implement some form of windows containment mechanisms for endpoint devices to address web browsing and untrusted content. Invincea's recent patent awards secures the core intellectual property in containerization to ensure that the innovations we pioneer are safeguarded, while extending confidence throughout our customer-base, partner ecosystem and investor community that their investment is secure. These patents further establish Invincea as the leader and gold standard in protecting endpoints against online threats users encounter."
The Virtual Browsing Environment patent describes and fully protects the intellectual property around users surfing the web from a browser that is seamlessly (transparently) within a virtual machine or container that is monitored for any suspicious behavior and captures intelligence for forensic purposes. It also covers the mechanisms for maintaining the integrity and hygiene of the container and an optimal user experience. The On-Demand Disposable Virtual Work System patent describes and fully protects the intellectual property around programmatically sending specific program execution -- such as a browser -- to a virtual container environment that is appropriately configured and resourced for the task, while ensuring control over system and data access from the containerized program.
Invincea addresses the single largest threat facing organizations today -- attacks aimed at end-users in the form of spear-phishing, watering hole attacks and drive by downloads. These patents relate to Invincea's unique approach to malware prevention based on nearly a decade of advanced malware research. Invincea takes a very unique approach to protecting enterprises against online threats by moving the most highly targeted applications -- web browsers, PDF readers and the Office suite -- into secure virtual containers. It changes the paradigm of malware identification by using an advanced, behavioral based detection engine, which has proven itself capable of spotting zero-days in the wild. It kills attacks dead in their tracks and extends the life and usefulness of the rest of the security infrastructure by feeding actionable, real-time forensic intelligence on all thwarted attacks to the broader security infrastructure.
Invincea products run on more than one million user desktops and the company added more than 200 new enterprise customers in the third quarter of 2014. The company's growth is also fueled by a unique relationship with Dell, which has Invincea as a cornerstone security offering running in more than 20,000 businesses globally, to protect users from watering hole attacks, web-based drive-bys and targeted spear-phishing attacks. Invincea's global market presence validates Invincea as the only endpoint product in the advanced threat protection space with the capabilities and scale to protect users against zero-day exploits and targeted attacks.
Invincea is recognized as providing one of most advanced endpoint protection solutions in the market.
In October 2014, Invincea was named a Finalist in the technology category for D.C.'s 50 on Fire that recognizes innovators, disruptors and trailblazers that are shaking up the way business is done in the District. In 2013, Invincea won the Northern Virginia Technology Council Innovators Award as well as "Best Anti-Malware Solution" in 2012 and 2013 by Government Security News. At the RSA Conference 2011, Invincea was named the "Most Innovative Company of the Year." Invincea's solutions include an endpoint security software suite and threat intelligence service. Together, these solutions offer a unique ability to protect enterprise networks without requiring prior knowledge of attacks, commonly called attack signatures, against all types of threats directed at end-users, including zero-days, by seamlessly moving applications that run untrusted content into controlled, secure virtual containers that automatically detect and terminate threats in real time.
