Awards are based on the input of employees including feedback on day-to-day tasks, work environment, culture, and overall company satisfaction. The Glassdoor award follows recent recognition by the Austin American Statesman who named Spiceworks a Top Workplace of Greater Austin for the fifth year in a row.

The Glassdoor survey includes both quantitative and qualitative questions designed to capture an authentic, inside look at what it's like to work at particular companies. The survey asks employees to rate their satisfaction with the company overall as well as with key workplace factors like career opportunities, compensation, benefits, work/life balance, senior management, and culture and values.

Methodology
The Best Places to Work are determined using company reviews shared by U.S. based employees who elected to participate in the survey between November 13, 2013 and November 2, 2014. To be considered for the SMB category, a company must have less than 1,000 employees and have received at least 20 company reviews from U.S.-based employees during the window of eligibility. The final list is compiled based on Glassdoor's proprietary algorithm, and takes into account quantity, quality and consistency of reviews.
