OSHAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 06/01/12 -- The Chevrolet Sonic, Cruze and revolutionary Volt all had a record sales month in May. There were 1,119 Sonics, 3,572 Cruzes and 211 Volts delivered in the month. Chevrolet, Buick, GMC, and Cadillac dealers reported 23,287 deliveries in May 2012, an increase of 1.3 per cent from 2011.

"Buick has become the fastest growing luxury brand in Canada, driven by sales of the all-new Verano," said Marc Comeau, vice-president of sales, service and marketing at GM of Canada. "This is further evidence that Buick's product renaissance is resonating with customers."

Sales of the Chevrolet Orlando, winner of MOTORING 2012's "MPV of the Year" award, and sales of the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain, perennial Consumers Digest Best Buys, drove GM's compact SUV/MPV segment sales up by 4 per cent for the month and up for the calendar year by 8 per cent.
