Transifex Releases New Version of Translation Memory, Reducing Translation Time for Localization Projects

Updated Platform Built to Scale for Future Localization Projects

MENLO PARK, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/04/15 -- Transifex, a leading Localization Automation Platform (LAP) provider for modern technology companies and Open Source communities alike, today announced Translation Memory 3.0, a major upgrade to its Translation Memory that will greatly increase the translation efficiency of its platform users.

Translation Memory 3.0 is a key component of the Transifex Localization Automation Platform which powers the process of launching digital products into multiple languages. Translation Memory is a database that keeps track of what translators have translated so they can reuse previous translations to save time, reduce costs, and improve consistency. In Transifex's 2014 State of Localization Benchmark Survey, respondents said that after translation quality, translation consistency was the second biggest challenge of localization.

"The way software products are being developed has changed dramatically in the past few years. In today's environment, speed and flexibility are critical," said Diego Búrigo Zacarão, Head of Engineer at Transifex. "Developers need to be able to localize in real-time, so we architected our Translation Memory to enable fast translations today, and built it so it will scale easily as our users' content grows."

"We've built Translation Memory 3.0 to process massive amounts of data in milliseconds and deliver translation suggestions in real-time," said Liam Costello, Senior Engineer at Transifex. "As a result, translators can immediately leverage a company's previous work for more consistent translations."

In addition to real-time translation suggestions, the enhanced features of Translation Memory 3.0 include:

  • Ability to select which projects will share a Translation Memory and create multiple Translation Memory groups. This will improve the consistency of translations across projects with similar content.
  • More accurate and relevant translation suggestions, regardless of the source language.
  • The ability to delete unwanted Translation Memory entries for better management of translation suggestions.
  • Leverage reports that give a breakdown of how much of the content being translated matches what's already in the Translation Memory.
