SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/26/14 -- Bluebox Security, the mobile data security company, today announced its Summer 2014 release including the addition of self-defending applications. Assuming that devices and applications are always at risk due to the constant intermingling of personal and corporate use of BYOD devices, Bluebox fortifies any work-related application with self-defense capabilities to intelligently scan and respond to potential risks in real time. Bluebox also added SAML 2.0 support and packaged integration with enterprise-grade identity management service Okta and single sign-on service OneLogin. In addition, Bluebox now supports dynamic app policies to reduce the effort of securely enabling mobile for both IT and the end user.
Mobile is firmly established in the enterprise. Research shows that 90 percent of employees use their smartphones and 35 percent use their tablets at work. However, mobile security is not meeting the changing demands BYOD is placing on the enterprise. While data security ranks as the most important mobile security requirement, only 13 percent of IT professionals felt that their current mobile security solution is effectively securing their mobile data.
"Mobile has become a flashpoint between lines of business and the IT organization," said Caleb Sima, co-founder and CEO, Bluebox Security. "Mobile enterprises are moving faster than ever, making it more difficult for IT and security professionals to enable the business while managing risk. At Bluebox we focus on making mobile data security simple to adopt across the enterprise. With our latest release, we further eliminate friction between mobile productivity and risk, providing intelligent, responsive, and effortless mobile data security that both IT and the end users will embrace."
The Bluebox Solution now offers:
"Most enterprises are inexperienced in mobile application security," wrote Joseph Feiman, Research Vice President & Gartner Fellow and Dionisio Zumerle, Principal Research Analyst, Gartner Research. "Security testing, if conducted at all, is often done casually -- not rigorously -- by developers who are mostly concerned with the functionality of applications, not their security." [1] The Gartner report also indicates that "through 2015, more than 75% of mobile applications will fail basic security tests."
