SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 08/21/14 -- Meru Networks® (NASDAQ: MERU), a leader in intelligent Wi-Fi networking, today announced that it is the first vendor to complete qualification with Microsoft Lync® for 802.11ac wireless networking solutions. The Lync qualification program is designed to ensure products adhere to Microsoft's stringent guidelines for voice and video quality. Products that receive qualification have demonstrated a very high level of performance under demanding network conditions.
"With Wi-Fi becoming the primary means of network access and unified communications capabilities being available on so many devices, ensuring high performance of Lync over wireless networks is more important than ever," said BJ Haberkorn, director of Lync product management at Microsoft. "The 802.11ac Wi-Fi solutions from Meru are qualified with Lync and show outstanding performance, even in the highest-density environments."
Using Microsoft Lync over Meru Wi-Fi delivers a consistently high-quality experience for end-users, who can click-to-call within Microsoft applications for wire-like voice when using Meru. In traditional networks, devices see dozens or even hundreds of access points operating on different channels. Meru's wireless technology gives each user device a single virtualized point of access that enables the network to manage connections over the best available access point.
No matter how many physical access points a network has, Meru networks eliminate the boundaries created by a hub-like patchwork of access points and create the appearance of a single, seamless layer of coverage. This lets the network -- not client devices -- make connectivity decisions, and allows users to move freely, without disruptive handoffs. Doing so ensures continuity of service and an excellent user experience when using streaming applications such as Microsoft Lync.
"The high quality and ease-of-use provided by Microsoft Lync is driving organizations of all types to adopt unified communications over landline telephony," said Ajay Malik, senior vice president of engineering and quality assurance at Meru. "Meru intelligent Wi-Fi networks ensure optimal performance of Microsoft Lync, even when users are in motion. Receiving Lync qualification validates that our 802.11ac Wi-Fi solutions provide the high quality of experience that users have come to expect from both Microsoft and Meru."
Both Meru's AP832 and AP822 802.11ac access points are fully qualified as interoperable with Microsoft Lync Server. For additional information, please visit http://www.merunetworks.com/products/technology/microsoft-lync/index.html.
