NEW YORK, NY and SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 06/11/12 -- CipherCloud, a leading provider of cloud information protection gateways for public and private clouds, today unveiled CipherCloud for Gmail, the industry's first data-at-rest encryption solution for Gmail that addresses the challenges faced by organizations with data privacy and compliance requirements. The new solution, announced at Cloud Expo New York, also provides additional security capabilities without affecting application performance or the end user experience, and it requires no changes to the application.
CipherCloud for Gmail will help accelerate the adoption of Gmail, particularly among global organizations with operations in regions with stringent privacy and data residency legislation, and among organizations in highly regulated industries such as financial services, healthcare, and public sector in complying with requirements such as GLBA, PCI, ITAR, HIPAA, HITECH, and FISMA.
According to Lawrence Pingree, research director, Gartner, "Data security and privacy concerns are holding back many companies from moving to cloud-based email solutions. For these companies, deploying encryption gateways can alleviate those concerns and eliminate a key roadblock to widespread cloud adoption."
CipherCloud for Gmail is a gateway that resides within an organization's network to transparently encrypt all Gmail messages, before they're sent to the cloud, while retaining important Gmail features such as advanced searching, contacts, calendar, and chat. It employs AES-256 military-grade encryption, so an organization's content is protected using best in class security, while retaining complete control over the encryption keys.
"Google Apps' innovative capabilities, massive storage, and low total cost of ownership have made it a very compelling solution that has been adopted by organizations around the world," said Eran Gil, SVP, global business development, Cloud Sherpas. "This latest solution from CipherCloud will make it possible for thousands more enterprises to consider moving to cloud-based email solutions such as Gmail. We're excited about CipherCloud's role in accelerating the adoption of Gmail and expanding the market for this solution."
"With CipherCloud for Gmail, our customers retain complete control over your encryption keys, so their confidential email can never be disclosed without their knowledge and approval, not even under the US Patriot or a cloud provider's legal disclosure policy," said CipherCloud founder and CEO, Pravin Kothari. "This is an important consideration for many of our customers."
Key Features and Benefits of CipherCloud for Gmail
"CipherCloud saves us money while alleviating our concerns about email privacy, security, and compliance in the Cloud," said Albert Caballero, CTO at Trapezoid, a leader in Trust Data Intelligence. "By migrating off our legacy email solution, we were able to eliminate expenses while providing our end users the convenience and functionality of Gmail. CipherCloud's behind the scenes protection ensures our corporate and customer communications are secure at all times."
Organizations can see a demo of CipherCloud for Gmail at Cloud Expo New York in booth #358 and online at http://pages.ciphercloud.com/CipherCloudGmail5MinuteProductTour.html.
