BEAVERTON, OR -- (Marketwired) -- 01/29/14 -- Open Scalable File Systems (OpenSFS), the premier non-profit organization advancing and coordinating the Lustre® file system community is excited to announce highlights from 2013 showing strong momentum in development budgets, membership rolls, and vendor support. Along with a deep commitment to keeping the Lustre file system open and free, in 2013 OpenSFS welcomed two new Participants -- Fujitsu and NCSA -- while Intel moved up to Promoter level and joined the OpenSFS board.
In 2013, OpenSFS's total direct financial support for the technical development and maintenance of the Lustre file system reached well over $3 million, its largest to date.
Also in 2013, OpenSFS advanced its communications and marketing efforts, installed a professional management infrastructure, supported development of enhanced feature availability, and built a significantly stronger foundation for the Lustre vendor ecosystem.
"Looking back on 2013 and seeing the growth and development of not only OpenSFS, but also the Lustre community as a whole, makes us extremely excited," said Galen Shipman, OpenSFS Chairman. "Lustre is healthier than ever, and is continuing to grow as new features like Hierarchical Storage Management (HSM) and Distributed Namespace (DNE) are being added that will directly benefit HPC, Big Data, and Enterprise users."
For 2014, OpenSFS will focus on its commitment to the Lustre community by facilitating the promotion, protection, and advancement of Lustre through working groups, sponsorship of community events, and direct funding of Lustre development. OpenSFS is committed to improved communications and building great content for Lustre developers and users including our first annual OpenSFS Lustre Report.
