The Pricing Engine in Cincom Acquire helps eliminate the risk of over discounting by enabling businesses to define available pricing codes and create business rules -- graphical "if this then that" rules -- around how each code should be considered. These business rules also define how pricing, discounting and sales adjustments (also known as multipliers) should be calculated. Cincom Acquire then updates the quote with those sales adjustments according to these rules.

"What happens when you have multiple discounts available?" says Schwarz. "Which discount do you apply first? What are the optimal discounts to apply? These are all questions whose answers can be automated in the Pricing Engine."

Most discounts and sales adjustments are a variation of some characteristic of who you are quoting to (prospect, long-time customer), who is doing the quoting/selling (dealer or direct sales channel), what is the solution offering (product) and the total volume of business (price scale ranges).

Upcharges Also Managed
The Cincom Acquire Pricing Engine can also handle upcharges and other pricing "add-ons." "If one of your customers lives in a remote area, for example, that's say a five-hour drive from your nearest service technician, and you are required in your service-level agreement to provide service within four hours, then you may need to increase the pricing to cover the cost of outsourcing services and support," says Schwarz. "By automating this pricing, your sales force can focus on solving the needs of the customer and selling the value of your solution while maintaining the pricing margins required."
