BEAVERTON, OR -- (Marketwired) -- 03/19/14 -- Open Scalable File Systems (OpenSFS), the premier non-profit organization advancing and coordinating the Lustre® file system community, is pleased to announce Stephen Simms, manager of high performance file systems at Indiana University, has been elected Community Representative Director for the 2014 term. Simms is returning to the position after a year hiatus; he had previously served for the 2012 term.
Each year, OpenSFS members elect a Community Representative Director to join the board in governance and stewardship of OpenSFS. The term runs from March to March each year.
"It is an honor to be elected community representative to the OpenSFS board," said Stephen Simms, manager of high performance file systems at Indiana University. "Lustre continues to be a crucial open resource for IU and HPC shops worldwide while seeing wider deployment in the commercial arena. OpenSFS has and will continue to play an important role in the evolving Lustre ecosystem. As this year's occupant of the community board seat, I will do my best to support Lustre's forward motion, represent the members of the Lustre community, and promote broader engagement with the community."
The OpenSFS Board of Directors has issued the following statement: "Simms has a real heart for the Lustre community and a mind for the technology. His passion and expertise have been instrumental to the success of OpenSFS. We're very excited to have him involved again in OpenSFS leadership."
Simms replaces Tommy Minyard, director of Advanced Computing Systems at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC), who has served as Community Representative Director for an extremely successful 2013 term. The OpenSFS board of directors would like to sincerely thank Minyard for his exceptional service as a representative and leader of the OpenSFS community.
