AJAX, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 01/06/14 -- Volkswagen Canada finished off 2013 with its 24th consecutive month of record sales. December's total of 4,078 represented an 8% increase over the previous high-water mark, set just last year (3,777). Year-to-date sales of 62,688 delivered a 6% improvement over last year (59,132).

Sales of the Jetta led the way. Last year, 30,413 were sold, making it one of the best-selling cars in Canada. A choice of five different engines, including the award-winning TDI Clean Diesel, a Turbocharged Hybrid, and an all-new 1.8L, turbocharged direct-injected powerplant deliver an unmatched combination of fuel efficiency, durability and a fun-to-drive character.

Looking ahead to 2014, Volkswagen is preparing for another strong year. The all-new, 7th generation Golf and GTI will arrive early in the year. The "World Car of the Year" will bring with it a new level of refinement, and will set the benchmark in its class.
