REDWOOD SHORES, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/07/14 -- Incapsula, the cloud-based website security and performance service, today announced plans to significantly increase its infrastructure capacity. Responding to both customer capacity demand, and increasingly sophisticated DDoS attacks, the company will bring its total Points of Presence (POPs) to 30 and increase its global coverage and network capacity to surpass 1.5 Tbps, and ensure zero impact during the largest possible attacks. Each of Incapsula's POPs will also be upgraded to cache 30 times more than its current capacity.
Over the past four quarters, the number of websites protected by Incapsula grew by over 600 percent. Incapsula is now used by some of the largest consumer electronics brands, online retailers, financial institutions and SaaS companies worldwide.
"Website and cloud application performance are as critical as they have ever been, and security challenges show no signs of abating," said Gur Shatz, co-founder and CEO. "As a result we are seeing record adoption of our service, and are increasing capacity to meet future demand."
The market for Incapsula's security and performance services continues to expand, fueled by rapid growth of SaaS online services and by the evolution of cyber threats, including high-volume DDoS attacks. Incapsula's recent DDoS Threat Landscape report showed that DDoS botnet activity increased by 240 percent over the last 12 months, driving up the demand for company's DDoS protection solutions. Incapsula's earlier Bot Traffic report also points to increased activity of hacker-owned bots, used for corporate espionage, website hijacking and data theft. Incapsula findings revealed that in 2013 these malicious bots accounted for over 31 percent of all Internet traffic.
In 2013, in response to these threats, Incapsula grew its network capacity by 500 percent. This year, the company plans to double its global network, expanding it from 16 to 30 high-powered data centers. In Q1, Incapsula already activated new data centers in Seattle, Dallas, and Paris, with more coming online in Toronto, Mexico City, Madrid, Lima, Seoul, Stockholm, Warsaw and other major cities around the globe.
The company is also building several "Mega POPs" in each region to deal with the largest possible attacks. When completed, Incapsula's network capacity will surpass 1.5 Tbps.
