SAN JOSE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 06/26/13 -- Hadoop Summit, Booth 50 -- WANdisco (LSE: WAND), a provider of high-availability software for global enterprises to meet the challenges of Big Data and distributed software development and a major sponsor of the Apache Software Foundation, announced that it will open source its S3-enabled HDFS option for Hadoop, which provides enterprises with a complete and seamless migration solution from Amazon's public cloud to a secure private cloud.
With S3-enabled HDFS available for Apache Hadoop, all Amazon S3 features are available in a private cloud, including searchable metadata tagging of images, video and other unstructured data, snapshots, and data object versioning. By implementing WANdisco's Non-Stop NameNode solutions with WDD 3.6, private cloud deployments with these S3 features are available 24/7, with unmatched scalability and performance.
"WANdisco is a proud Apache Software Foundation sponsor and contributor to the Hadoop open source community and releasing our S3-enabled HDFS technology to developers is a major step forward in enabling migration from Amazon S3 to secure private clouds," said David Richards, WANdisco CEO.
Key features of WANdisco Hadoop S3-enabled HDFS include:
Currently bundled with WANdisco Distro (WDD), 100% open source, commercially supported, fully tested, production-ready version of Apache Hadoop 2, WANdisco Hadoop S3-enabled HDFS will be submitted to the Apache Software Foundation at the end of the summer.
