LOS ALTOS, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 06/14/12 -- Box today announced the addition of four new healthcare customers to the more than 120,000 businesses using Box globally. In the past year, the company has tripled enterprise growth and experienced a 200 percent increase in healthcare customers as leading organizations like American Hospital Association, American Lung Association, Greenway Medical Technologies and Human Genome Sciences adopted Box to share, manage and collaborate on content in the cloud.
"Healthcare IT leaders have a massive opportunity to use cloud technologies to centralize the management of healthcare-related information to yield more expedient care and efficient operations," said Whitney Tidmarsh Bouck, GM of enterprise at Box. "By providing cloud services that are both intuitive and secure, Box has created a platform users love and adopt with a deep layer of administrative control to efficiently manage information across their organizations."
According to CDW's 2011 Cloud Computing Tracking Poll findings, 30 percent of healthcare organizations are adopting cloud technologies for increased flexibility, cost savings and convenience. Current cloud users will also spend more than one-third of their I.T. budget on cloud resources and applications by 2016 to address challenges like managing a diverse set of apps and medical devices, maintaining electronic records, and empowering employees to easily and securely share and access information across all devices.
The new healthcare customers Box announced today represent a diverse set of use cases. For example, Human Genome Sciences and Greenway Medical use Box to share content both internally and externally with clients and to access information securely on iPads. Tony Murabito, vice president and CIO at Human Genome Sciences, explained: "Box helped us launch our sales force on the iPad. The process was quick and painless, putting easy-to-use but critical collaboration tools in our reps' hands on day one."
The American Lung Association relies on Box to access and share documents safely when traveling and has made it a key element in its overall IT strategy:
"It was imperative to choose a cloud partner that not only gave us access to business information from anywhere on any device, but one that kept our information safe and worked seamlessly with existing systems," said Eric McDuffee, senior director, technology and administration at American Lung Association of the Northeast. "Using Box has significantly improved communication and collaboration across our departments -- saving us time and giving us the tools to promote innovation across the organization."
The American Hospital Association implemented Box to share information on healthcare issues, trends and relevant legislation to all their constituents.
