SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/25/14 -- Piston Cloud Computing, Inc., the enterprise OpenStack® company, today announced, in conjunction with the release of Piston OpenStack 3.0, that Intelemage, the global leader in medical image sharing solutions, has implemented Piston OpenStack to run its Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS). Piston OpenStack is a software product that uses advanced systems intelligence to orchestrate an entire private cloud environment using commodity hardware.
Prior to implementing Piston OpenStack, Intelemage had a mix of dedicated Linux and VMware ESXi servers on which they deployed their virtual machines. As their customer base grew, Intelemage recognized a need to replace their VMware ESXi environment with a more scalable, automated and secure infrastructure that could better support their growth.
Intelemage evaluated several vendors, including Ubuntu Cloud, newer VMware solutions and Piston OpenStack. Ultimately, Intelemage chose Piston because of the team's OpenStack® expertise and the product's security, scalability and automation. Prior to Piston, Intelemage spent too much time building servers, applying patches and doing other deployment-related exercises. With Piston OpenStack, Intelemage is able to automate all build-out and deployment activities, taking deployment times down to seconds.
Piston OpenStack allows businesses to easily deploy and manage an OpenStack private cloud without IT operations expertise or specialized appliances. Providing best-of-breed virtualized compute, storage, networking and management through self-service interfaces and APIs, Piston frees developers to focus on building applications rather than infrastructure. Piston can be deployed on commodity hardware from almost any major x86 vendor and scales to tens of thousands of physical servers.
