SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/12/14 -- Piston Cloud Computing, Inc., the enterprise OpenStack company, today announced that it has entered into a partnership with Tokyo Electron Device to distribute Piston OpenStack in Japan. Tokyo Electron Device (TED), a technical trading firm that provides semiconductor products and business solutions, also commissions the design and development of its own brand products. The partnership combines the power of Piston OpenStack, the company's global-scale private cloud software, with TED's superior technical support and unmatched quality assurance to help customers meet their critical business objectives.
Piston OpenStack allows businesses to easily deploy and manage an OpenStack private cloud without IT operations expertise or specialized appliances. Providing best of breed virtualized compute, storage, networking and management through self-service interfaces and APIs, Piston frees developers to focus on building applications rather than infrastructure. Piston OpenStack can be deployed on commodity hardware from almost any major x86 vendor and scales to tens of thousands of physical servers.
While Piston allows customers to leverage existing skills and IT investments to instantly create and run a private cloud, these users can often benefit from a systems integrator and distributor like TED that provides customized solutions and consulting for enterprises looking to maximize each project's business value.
TED is an advanced technology trading company, representing innovative technology from industry-leading semiconductor component manufacturers, network systems suppliers, storage solutions providers and software companies. TED customers also benefit from the breadth and depth of their technical expertise and experience. Partnering with their customers at the intellectual property, design, quality assurance and manufacturing levels, TED's capabilities go far beyond the function of a traditional distributor.
"TED is a welcomed addition to our partner program. Based on their extensive experience and understanding of the needs of the enterprise, TED has built an impressive reputation in the Japanese marketplace," said Jim Morrisroe, CEO of Piston. "Working together, TED and Piston can offer our customers a competitive advantage with best-in-class solutions and unprecedented expertise."
Piston will formally launch its partnership with TED at the upcoming OpenStack Days Tokyo taking place February 13-14, 2014 in Tokyo, Japan. Piston's Chief Scientist will conduct demos of Piston OpenStack software in TED's booth at the event and will also present a session on the technology and customer benefits on February 14, 2014 at 2:40 PM JST.
