MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 01/08/15 -- Mirantis, the pure-play OpenStack company, today launched Mirantis OpenStack 6.0. Based on OpenStack Juno, Mirantis OpenStack 6.0 is the first OpenStack distribution to let partners write plugins that install and run their products automatically. Partners and customers can write plugins for the Fuel deployment manager, letting users seamlessly add functionality in OpenStack instead of manually installing additional software and drivers.

Fuel offers an open source framework for creating deployment plugins, offering users a wide range of capabilities that they can repeatedly and reliably add to their Fuel-managed OpenStack clouds. Fuel plugins that are shipping today with Mirantis OpenStack 6.0 include Load-Balancing-as-a Service with HAProxy, Virtual-Private-Network-as-a-Service, and NetApp and Red Hat's GlusterFS as backend storage for Cinder. Customers and partners can also build additional network, storage, operations and authentication plugins.

In addition to a newly pluggable OpenStack installer, Mirantis OpenStack 6.0 features improved high availability functionality, and has been rigorously tested to perform out-of-the-box at a scale of up to 100 nodes. It also offers extended support for VMware, including a reference architecture VMware vCenter Server and VMware NSX, and support for vSphere Datastore and Nova-Network VLAN Manager support for vCenter.
