GOLDEN, CO -- (Marketwired) -- 11/13/14 -- Wowza® Media Systems, LLC, the provider of Simply Powerful Streaming™ software, today launched the Wowza Ninja App Challenge, inviting developers to leverage the Wowza REST API to create mobile video streaming apps for consumers or businesses. The winner will receive a $15,000 cash prize and be recognized at the 2015 NAB Show in Las Vegas, taking place April 11-16, 2015.

The challenge, which runs through March 2, 2015, encourages developers to build an iOS or Android app that incorporates video streaming in a unique and innovative way, using the recently released Wowza REST API. A panel of judges, including external judges and Wowza employees, will critique submissions based on how well the Wowza REST API was adopted, along with the overall user experience, originality, quality, and efficiency of the app.

WHAT: Wowza Ninja App Challenge

CONTEST OVERVIEW: Developers are invited to submit iOS or Android apps that utilizes the Wowza REST API. Submissions will be accepted until March 2, 2015.

JUDGING CRITERIA: A panel of judges will rate submissions based on the following criteria:

• How well the REST API may be adopted by commercial or consumer users
• Overall user experience
• Originality
• Quality and efficiency (stability, reliability, bug-free, etc.)

WINNER: The winner will receive a $15,000 cash prize and will be announced at the 2015 NAB Show in Las Vegas.

Once participants complete the entry form, Wowza will share additional details and the nondisclosure agreement that is required to enter the REST API Preview Program for the competition. Participation in the challenge indicates agreement to the challenge terms and conditions.
