SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 06/19/12 -- AppDirect, the leading cloud service marketplace company, announced today the addition of several new features that make it easier than ever for companies to customize their AppDirect-powered marketplaces. With these new capabilities, marketplace owners can quickly tag and group products in their application stores and create custom HTML emails, allowing them to target their customers more effectively. The new customization features are now a standard part of the AppDirect marketplace platform.
"The AppDirect platform is already one of the most agile marketplace solutions available today, but with these customization features, we're pushing the boundaries of innovation even further," said Daniel Saks, president and co-CEO of AppDirect. "With this level of customization, companies have unmatched freedom to quickly create a marketplace that best meets their needs, as well as the needs of their customers."
The new marketplace customization features enable administrators to group applications together, categorize them with tags, and create menu items to target particular customer verticals and segments, all within a matter of minutes. Moreover, administrators can create and send custom HTML-based emails, or choose from a range of pre-defined templates, to communicate with customers. These features give service providers greater control and can also help them drive revenue.
"Our core industry, mobile development, is constantly evolving. That makes it even more important for us to be able to change our Open Mobile Marketplace quickly and easily," said Gabriel Tavridis, Senior Product Manager at Appcelerator, one of AppDirect's partners. "With the AppDirect platform, we can group and describe products in ways that makes sense for our 300,000 mobile developer community and allows us to deliver what they need to be successful."
On the technical side, AppDirect has re-architected part of its platform with backbone.js, a move that not only leads to a better, faster-loading marketplace experience, but also sets the stage for future customization enhancements. "Service providers are the experts when it comes to reaching their customers, so the more customization we build into the marketplace, the better," said Saks. "One of our top priorities has always been to remove barriers to cloud adoption, and customization is one of the best tools we have to make that a reality."
