PLEASANTON, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/04/13 -- Percona, the company that makes MySQL faster and more reliable, announced that the Call for Speakers for the Percona Live MySQL Conference and Expo 2014 is open and accepting speaker proposals through November 22, 2013. The 2014 event will be held at The Hyatt Regency Santa Clara and Santa Clara Convention Center, from April 1-4. Sponsorship opportunities and Super Saver Registration discounts are also available.

With "awesome" used as a common descriptor, the 2013 conference boasted a 15% increase in attendees over 2012 and attracted MySQL experts from 35 countries and six continents. Percona Live featured talks by industry luminaries from Oracle, Percona, 451 Research, HP Cloud Division, Amazon Web Services, Continuent, Monty Program Ab, and many more. The 2014 event promises to be even better.

Proposals are being accepted for both conference breakout sessions as well as pre-conference tutorial sessions:

• The conference committee is especially interested in receiving detailed proposals for breakout sessions that fit into the likely conference tracks of Developing Applications, Database Administration, Trends in Architecture and Design, Tools, Utilizing Hardware, Integrating MySQL and NoSQL, New Features, Best Practices for Businesses, Replication, and High Availability Strategies. Each session is 50 minutes in length including a Q&A period.
  
  
• Tutorials should present immediate and practical applications of in-depth MySQL knowledge targeted at a level between a training class and a conference breakout session. Tutorials are three hours in length including a Q&A period.
