AJAX, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 12/03/13 -- For the 23rd consecutive month, Volkswagen Canada is pleased to report record sales. In November, a total of 4,832 new vehicles were sold, a full 4% over the previous record, set just last year (4,659). Year-to-date sales of 58,590 are 6% ahead of last year (55,355).

"We have invested billions of dollars in our North American operations over that last few years," stated Maria Stenstrom, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada. "These measures have allowed us to tailor our vehicles to match the tastes of the Canadian consumer."

Once again, the Jetta was the top-selling Volkswagen. Last month, 2,290 were sold thanks in part to a choice of five different engines, including the award-winning TDI Clean Diesel, a Turbocharged Hybrid, and an all-new 1.8L, turbocharged direct-injected powerplant.

Volkswagen has long been known for employing methods of constant engineering refinement in pursuit of greater efficiency and driveability. Through a process referred to as "intelligent downsizing", the company is able to offer vehicles powered by engines that are smaller and lighter than their predecessors, yet deliver greater power and fuel economy.
