BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 09/09/14 -- MachineShop, the Internet of Services company, today announced key enhancements to its next-generation middleware offering, improving the ability for organizations to create connected and integrated business solutions from any combination of devices and systems. Key enhancements, announced today, include the addition of many new APIs and a dramatic increase in the amount of data it can ingest and process.
MachineShop emerged from stealth mode earlier this year to bring the power and simplicity of APIs and web services to the realm of the Internet of Things (IoT). Among the key enhancements to MachineShop's Connected Services Platform is the addition of nearly 100 new APIs for data ingestion, normalization and management. Also in the list of new services are several new APIs for applying business rules and extracting business intelligence from streams of real time data. In total, MachineShop now offers customers more than 400 discrete services as APIs.
The second area of recent improvements to MachineShop's middleware services increases the velocity of data ingestion, eliminates the possibility of lost data and also increases the speed at which rules are applied against real time data streams. MachineShop uses Translator Services and APIs that ingest data from a variety of sources including industrial systems, devices, databases and even third party APIs. This initial point of contact with external data can now ingest hundreds of thousands of messages per second and ensure that inbound messages are never rejected due to capacity issues.
"We were the first company in the world to build an IoT-centric middleware offering that is comprised 100% of APIs. We will continue to up the ante with functional and performance enhancements that the market demands," said Michael Campbell, founder and CEO, MachineShop. "Eventually we expect that legacy platform companies will also embrace the 'Services as a Platform' approach. Until then we are happy to provide this open framework that customers want to adopt."
MachineShop allows customers to subscribe to only the services they need and to only pay for the transactions using those services. Services can run in public or private, on premise, in the cloud, or function as a hybrid. They can interact with data points at the edge -- on devices, in networks and everywhere in between.
Deployed in global mission-critical business operations today, MachineShop services are available through customer-specific Services Exchange, a portal through which developers and organizations can access discrete APIs and services based on their unique roles and permissions. Best of breed tools, analytics and management controls are all part of a customer's Services Exchange implementation.
