SEATTLE, WA -- (Marketwired) -- 12/02/14 -- Global supercomputer leader Cray Inc. (NASDAQ: CRAY) today announced the Company has named Ryan Waite senior vice president of products. With more than 20 years of experience in big data, supercomputing and software at Amazon Web Services and Microsoft, Waite will be responsible for leading Cray's products division, which manages the Company's line of compute, storage and big data analytics solutions.

Prior to joining Cray, Waite served as director of data services at Amazon Web Services where he was responsible for all aspects of its five big data services, including product management, engineering and operations. While at Amazon Web Services, Waite directed the Amazon Kinesis, AWS Fraud Detection, AWS Data Warehouse, AWS Metering and Tag Metadata teams.

Before joining Amazon Web Services, Waite built a 20-year career at Microsoft where he held a number of software design and management positions, and was most recently the general manager for its high performance computing team. In this role, Waite led Microsoft's HPC business and an engineering team that was responsible for the architecture, development, test and program management of Windows HPC Server and its integration with Azure. Waite also holds a number of technology patents.
