BOSTON, MA -- (Marketwired) -- 01/27/14 -- RapidMiner, the de-facto industry standard for predictive analytics built on an open stack, today announced Andy Menzies has joined the executive team as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO). In this position, he will lead all revenue and service activities for RapidMiner, including direct and indirect sales, professional services, customer support and strategic alliances. Research and Markets, an industry research firm, estimates the global market for predictive analytics will "grow at a CAGR of 30.19 percent over the period 2014-2018(1)."
RapidMiner is well-positioned to capitalize on the market demand for predictive analytics. The company helps customers accelerate their adoption of data mining and extract value from their data. RapidMiner 6 has been called "a potential game changer", "one of the most exciting things to happen to data mining" (David Norris, Bloor Research(2)); and "an extraordinarily good analytics workbench" (Martin Butler, Butler Analytics(3)), among other accolades.
Industry Veteran's Background Provides Valuable Asset for High Growth Company
Prior to joining the company, Menzies held executive leadership roles at complex event processing start-ups StreamBase and Apama where he built and executed go-to-market strategies culminating in high growth and successful exits. (Progress Software acquired Apama in April 2005 and TIBCO acquired StreamBase June 2013.) He is an industry veteran and has also held sales management positions at Business Objects, Cognos, SAP and Siebel.
"Andy's professional experience and market expertise will help accelerate our enterprise sales and channel(s) business. This experience coupled with his results-oriented approach, is especially important given how active the predictive analytics market is currently," said Ingo Mierswa, co-founder and CEO of RapidMiner. "There's no time to waste on 'coming up to speed'."
Menzies will also be coordinating revenue-generating activities between RapidMiner's Boston headquarters, the Dortmund, Germany R&D office, and the distributed sales force, supporting a significant expansion in the U.S.
"The new version of RapidMiner enables business analysts and other non-technical users to more easily apply predictive analytics to company data. This zero-programming approach allows business users to quickly produce customer churn predictions, optimized marketing campaigns, social media sentiment, and predictions of factory machinery breakdowns and maintenance schedules," said Menzies. "There is a clear opportunity, both with this company and in this rapidly expanding market, to put RapidMiner predictive analytics on the desktops of business analysts everywhere."
