MADISON, WI -- (Marketwired) -- 09/26/14 -- Amphion Medical Solutions, a leading provider of advanced transcription and coding solutions and services, announced today it is now offering Intermediate and Advanced PCS Workshops designed to help coders develop higher level proficiency in ICD-10 than is possible through traditional training programs. The announcement was made in conjunction with the firm's appearance at the 86th Annual AHIMA Convention & Exhibit (Booth #1038), taking place at the San Diego Convention Center Sept. 27-Oct. 2.
"ICD-10 requires a greater understanding of anatomy and physiology than its predecessor," said Pam Wirth, RHIA, president of Amphion's Coding, Compliance and Quality Division. "These intermediate and advanced workshops go beyond basic training, taking coders on a deep dive into the complexities of ICD-10 in preparation for the final transition in 2015."
Amphion's Intermediate Workshops for CM and PCS covers topics including drug and chemical tables; B95-B97, borderline diagnosis and impending conditions; circulatory series; root of ICD-10-PCS; external causes; obstetrics; and fractures. Advanced Training for PCS covers the complexities of coding obstetrics and musculoskeletal operative reports, as well as surgical procedures to treat injuries.
"ICD-10 provides a significant opportunity to more accurately capture the complete record of a patient encounter. These workshops are designed to ensure coders are armed with the advanced knowledge they need to help their organizations succeed in an ICD-10 environment," said Wirth.
