MADRID, SPAIN -- (Marketwire) -- 06/29/12 -- The OpenNebula Project is proud to announce the public availability of the OpenNebula Marketplace, an online catalog where individuals and organizations can quickly distribute and deploy virtual appliances ready-to-run on OpenNebula clouds. The new Marketplace is fully integrated with the new OpenNebula 3.6 so any user of an OpenNebula cloud can find and deploy virtual appliances in a single click. The OpenNebula marketplace is also of interest to software developer looking to quickly distribute a new appliance, making it available to all OpenNebula deployments worldwide.
The OpenNebula Marketplace is available at no charge to all OpenNebula users and appliance developers. The Marketplace is not an online store but a service to bring together cloud users interested in pre-built software solutions and software developers and vendors interested in distributing and promoting their applications and services. The Marketplace contains community appliances built with open-source components and commercial appliances that provide evaluation versions of commercial software. It also includes appliances only available for C12G Labs subscribers.
"This is the first and only virtual appliance marketplace fully integrated with a private cloud management tool to offer the best user experience; you can download and execute an appliance in just one click", said Ruben S. Montero, Chief Architect of OpenNebula. "This Marketplace, together with our Demo Cloud and the new OpenNebula Sandbox to build VMware and KVM clouds in 20 minutes, has been created to simplify the cloud experience for our users", said Ignacio M. Llorente, Director of OpenNebula.
OpenNebula delivers the most feature-rich, customizable, open solution to build enterprise virtualized data centers and private clouds on Xen, KVM and VMware. OpenNebula is a very active project that has developed a very large user base, with more than 5,000 downloads per month and thousands of deployments that include leading research centers like CERN, FermiLab and ESA; supercomputing centers like SARA and NCHC; telecom operators like RIM, China Mobile and Telefonica O2; and integrators like Logica, Engineering and KPMG.
C12G Labs, the company behind the open-source project, delivers a commercial distribution of OpenNebula for organizations looking for a certified, long-term supported cloud platform. OpenNebula and C12G are trademarks of C12G Labs. Other product or company names mentioned may be trademarks of their respective companies.
