BlueData Co-founder to Present Global Telco Use Case at the Solutions Showcase Theater in the Expo Hall on Friday, October 17, at 10:45 a.m. EDT.

BlueData co-founder and chief architect Tom Phelan will present a customer use case detailing how a global telecommunications operator successfully used the BlueData EPIC™ platform to evaluate and validate "Big Data as a Service" within its data center.

The presentation will share how the BlueData EPIC platform provided the ideal solution the company needed to streamline the creation of ephemeral Big Data clusters that would interconnect with a persistent Hadoop cluster to extract the desired data. The goal was to allow various teams of developers to run multiple distributed applications on various versions of Hadoop distributions simultaneously, while being able to scale resources easily, either up or down, based on usage.

To solve this problem, the global telecommunications operator implemented the BlueData EPIC platform to create a secure, multi-tenant Big Data Private Cloud that supports multiple applications and Hadoop distributions on a limited set of physical resources. The BlueData EPIC platform enabled the company to create the agile Big Data infrastructure needed to accelerate its Big Data projects.

The Startup Showcase is a chance for 12 finalists to demonstrate their innovations to a packed room of investors, entrepreneurs, journalists, and potential customers and employees. The Strata panel of judges will choose three companies from among the finalists, selecting those whose technology, team and offering stand apart from the rest. Winners will be announced during Friday keynotes.
