AUSTIN, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 04/01/14 -- Crossroads Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CRDS), a global provider of data protection solutions, today announced the release of StrongBox 2.2.
This new release provides a 30 percent performance improvement, adds a new tape regeneration feature to expand its self-healing functions, and introduces the new Archive Utility to enable seamless archiving from Avid® applications, the market's leading digital asset management tools.
StrongBox is a shared storage solution that provides the most cost-efficient long-term data preservation and protection for fixed content. Harnessing the benefits of low-cost LTFS tape media combined with unique policy-driven disk caching technology, StrongBox ensures data is protected yet rapidly accessible when and where it is needed for just pennies per gigabyte.
The new StrongBox Archive Utility makes it even simpler to interface with existing Media Asset Management (MAM) and other media applications, including Avid Interplay®, Interplay Access, Unity ISIS®, Media Composer®, NewsCutter®, and Symphony®. The Archive Utility enables organizations to optimize their high performance storage by seamlessly moving inactive data off of Avid ISIS® and into StrongBox.
The new tape regeneration feature expands StrongBox's core self-healing capabilities with data recovery mechanisms that ensure resiliency for demanding long-term data preservation requirements. This new capability guarantees that a tape can be recreated with original data, even if an error occurs in a file or on physical media.
"StrongBox continues to prove its value for the media and entertainment industry, as it significantly reduces storage costs, streamlines archive access, and now easily integrates with Avid and other applications," said David Cerf, executive vice president of strategy and business development at Crossroads Systems. "Further expanding opportunities for StrongBox growth within the media and entertainment space, the release of StrongBox's Archive Utility illustrates our ongoing commitment to offering the most innovative, cost-effective storage and protection solution."
Crossroads StrongBox and the Archive Utility for Avid workflows will be highlighted during NAB Show 2014 at FUJIFILM Recording Media U.S.A. booth SL11109. For more information on StrongBox and its Archive Utility, visit www.crossroads.com/Strongbox/archive-utility-avid.
