PHILADELPHIA, PA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/06/14 -- Point.io has added enterprise storage features under the Citrix ShareFile® StorageZone Controller architecture. Citrix ShareFile, a business-oriented alternative to Dropbox and Box cloud storage services, now integrates with Point.io's API technology to provide connectivity to all the mainstream behind-the-firewall and cloud file storage locations. Citrix ShareFile brings the security, cloud-scale, and user experience while Point.io's APIdoc enables enterprise information systems such as Alfresco, EMC Documentum, IBM FileNet, and Salesforce.com.
"Business users should not be bothered with keeping track of which apps can get to which documents," says Ron Rock, CEO of Point.io. "The Citrix ShareFile/Point.io APIdoc combination provides the best features of the 'sync and share' services while integrating all the enterprise content necessary to give users a seamless experience by seeing all their documents in one place. Citrix shares our vision of bringing a unified experience to enterprise users and is making the investments necessary to make that vision a reality today."
By choosing Citrix ShareFile with Point.io's APIdoc, enterprise customers can get the convenience and scalability of a cloud storage offering while leveraging existing infrastructure for speed and security. Files are unified without leaving their original homes. For those that have adopted alternative cloud-storage offerings, the combined offering integrates with personal cloud storage providers like Dropbox, Box, Microsoft's OneDrive, and Google Drive, giving the joint offering the most connectivity options available on the market.
"Data is becoming increasingly fragmented across multiple data sources. In addition, access to behind-the-firewall information is demanded by today's mobile workforce," says Bill Carovano, Senior Director, Product Management at Citrix. "With Point.io APIdoc and our new ShareFile StorageZone Connectors SDK, we enable our customers to expand access to enterprise content securely, whereby users can access and edit Office documents from the familiar ShareFile interface."
"APIdoc is the fastest route to market for enterprise file management apps for mobile and cloud," said Tim Panagos, CTO of Point.io. "The complexities of integrating structured data from databases or production systems and unstructured data, like documents and spreadsheets, can be overwhelming and expensive. APIdoc isolates all of that complexity. It becomes plug-and-play."
APIdoc currently supports 24 storage connectors, including Box, Dropbox, Microsoft SharePoint, IBM FileNet Content Manager, EMC Documentum, Google Drive, Microsoft OneDrive, Amazon S3, and Salesforce.com -- and is adding two to five new connectors each month. In addition, APIdoc comes with a fully integrated SDK that supports rapid development of any custom storage connector under the single API connector platform.
Other key benefits of APIdoc include:
