AJAX, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 02/03/14 -- Volkswagen Canada started off 2014 with its 25th consecutive month of record sales. January's total of 3,683 represented a 9% increase over the previous record of 3,373, set just last year.

"We have created a lineup of vehicles that appeal to the Canadian consumer," stated Maria Stenstrom, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada. "Customers will not accept compromises when they select a vehicle, and our cars do a great job of combining comfort, driving enjoyment and solid value."

Leading the way were sales of the Jetta. During the month, 1,891 were sold.

Volkswagen showcased the all-new, 7th generation GTI at the Montreal Autoshow, and will take the wraps off of the new Golf this month at the Toronto show. Both vehicles will arrive at dealerships this spring.
