SUNNYVALE, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 02/11/14 -- Meru Networks® (NASDAQ: MERU), a leader in Wi-Fi networking, today announced that the Goffstown, N.H. school district has deployed a Meru Education-grade (MEG) Gigabit Wi-Fi solution to enable Uninterrupted Learning at its top-ranked high school. The district, which replaced consumer-grade access points with the MEG solution to eliminate daily connectivity issues, support academic excellence and increase teacher effectiveness, also plans to roll out Gigabit Wi-Fi at its middle and elementary schools.
"Previously, we spent a lot of time placing access points, making sure the channels didn't overlap, worrying about RF interference and troubleshooting connectivity issues. Meru's MobileFLEX architecture has eliminated all that," said Gary Girolimon, director of technology, Goffstown School District. "We deployed 37 Meru AP 832 802.11ac access points in half a day with the help of a few students and teachers from a local technical college. Our Meru wireless LAN supports mobile carts in the classrooms and opens the door to bring-your-own-device in our district."
Goffstown High School is ranked fourth among New Hampshire high schools, according to US News & World Report. The Goffstown school district serves 3,000 students from three towns. Its students and teachers regularly access applications such as the Moodle learning management system, PowerSchool student information management and Google Docs from their laptops. The faster, more reliable 802.11ac Wi-Fi network enables the district to expand the use of digital textbooks and collaborative learning. The Goffstown schools selected Meru for its high-device density and for the ease of deployment and management enabled by the Virtual Cell deployment option of the MobileFLEX architecture.
The MEG solution is designed to solve educational institutions' BYOD issues and support their learning-essential applications. MEG starts with three simple steps:
1. On-board quickly with BYOD provisioning and secure wireless access mapped to IT policies.
2. Connect all BYOD devices reliably anywhere on campus.
3. Learn by deploying validated learning and teaching applications on BYOD devices over the MEG wireless solution.
"Whether K-12 schools are exploring blended learning or flipped classrooms to engage students and personalize education, they need a Wi-Fi solution that delivers fair and reliable access to online materials and applications," said Sarosh Vesuna, vice president and general manager of Meru's business units. "The simplicity and ease of use of the MEG solution enables K-12 schools to deliver smooth, continuous connectivity to the teachers and students who depend on it, whether they're watching videos, collaborating on presentations or taking exams."
