OSHAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 05/01/14 -- Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac dealers delivered 25,435 vehicles in April, showing an increase in retail sales of almost 6 per cent while total sales increased by 1.5 per cent.

"Canadian customers continue to recognize the value, performance and technology of Chevrolet's new vehicle line-up, with total Chevrolet sales up more than 5 per cent for the month of April," said John Roth, vice president, sales, service and marketing, GM Canada. "Sales of the Chevrolet Cruze were up over 19 per cent in the same month as The Diesel Driver named the Cruze 2.0L Clean Turbo diesel the Diesel Car of the Year."

With the new products being introduced, Canadian customers will soon be able to experience the all-new large SUVs including the Chevrolet Tahoe, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade. The all-new heavy-duty Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra are arriving on dealer lots and later this year, the mid-size pickups, the Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon will join the product line up. The addition of the HD and mid-size pickups rounds out GM's three truck strategy, joining the recently awarded North American Truck of the Year, the Chevrolet Silverado and the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada's Best New Pickup, the GMC Sierra. This three truck strategy is designed to meet the needs of the broadest possible customer base by letting them choose precisely the right truck to meet their needs.

April 2014 Sales Highlights

--  Sales of the Chevrolet Equinox, recently named a Top Safety Pick by the
    IIHS, were up over 23 per cent, and the all-new Silverado were up 5 per
    cent 
--  Sales of the Buick Enclave were up 32 per cent 
--  Sales of the GMC Acadia were up over 38 per cent and the all-new 2015
    Yukon and Yukon XL combined were up almost 38 per cent 
--  Cadillac retail sales were up almost 17 per cent, the 19th consecutive
    month of sales growth, driven by ATS (up 13 per cent) and SRX (up over
    52 per cent)

Total GM Canada sales were up 1.5 per cent in April 2014.
