SAN FRANCISCO, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 04/24/14 -- Pertino, a company reinventing networking for the cloud era, today announced that vice president of marketing Todd Krautkremer will participate in the "Let Your Users Go Rogue Without Going off the Range" panel session at the Consumerization of IT in the Enterprise (CITE) Conference. The panel, moderated by Peter Christy of 451 Research, will discuss Shadow IT and the latest tools and best practices for letting users "go rogue" with cloud services and personal devices without giving up IT security and control.
Trends around cloud, mobility and bring your own device (BYOD) are unstoppable. As a result, businesses of all sizes are grappling with how to accommodate employees seeking anywhere, anytime access to critical files and applications without giving up on security and control. A recent Pertino-sponsored survey of 259 Spiceworks IT pros worldwide found that 70 percent are planning on increasing employee demand for remote network access to behind-the-firewall files and applications with increased productivity (59 percent) and mobile device access (53 percent) cited as the primary drivers among users. At the same time, over half (52 percent) of IT pros listed security and compliance issues as the most significant impediment, followed by support and network infrastructure challenges.
"Mobile and cloud are the catalysts to a new era in IT that will prove to be as transformative as PCs and distributed computing were over two decades ago," said Krautkremer. "The difference today is a more tech-savvy and flexibility-minded workforce as the driving force, and, unlike the early days of PCs, technology adoption barriers are virtually non-existent. This has IT organizations in an unfamiliar position of playing catch-up and struggling to find new ways to deliver traditional network-based security and control across the Internet."
The CITE Conference is geared towards IT professionals from mid-large size enterprises and line of business executives across all industries, and explores how consumer-inspired technology engages employees, drives innovation and attracts and empowers the next generation workforce. As part of the "Let Your Users Go Rogue Without Going off the Range" panel session at CITE, Krautkremer will discuss best practices for IT departments to protect their data as users increasingly use their own apps and devices to make their work easier. The panel is moderated by Peter Christy, research director of 451 Research, and other panelists include: Jamie Barnett, vice president of marketing of Netskope; Sanjay Castelino, vice president of marketing of Spiceworks; and David Hoff, chief technology officer and co-founder of Cloud Sherpas.

About Pertino
Founded in 2011, Pertino has an inspired vision for reinventing networking for the cloud era, and in the process, being a catalyst for democratizing IT for small-to-medium businesses. Globalization, cloud-enabled IT, and growing demand for always-connected people, devices, and things is affecting businesses of all sizes -- making the "outside network" as critical as the inside one. However, traditional wide-area networks have not kept pace. Pertino's revolutionary Cloud Network Engine enables an IT person, regardless of skill level, to build a secure and reliable cloud network in minutes that connects people everywhere to IT resources anywhere. To achieve this breakthrough, Pertino has developed a software-driven cloud platform that combines the power and pervasiveness of the cloud with network virtualization and Software-defined Network (SDN) technology. The company is venture funded and headquartered in Los Gatos, Calif. For more information or to try Pertino free for yourself, please visit pertino.com.
