AJAX, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 03/03/14 -- Despite a coast-to-coast cold snap that lingered for much of the month, Volkswagen Canada reported strong sales in February. A total of 3,733 new Volkswagens were sold, bringing the year-to-date total up to 7,416, which is above last year's record-setting pace.

"Our customers are eagerly anticipating the arrival of the all-new Golf and GTI," stated Maria Stenstrom, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada. "The Golf was named "2013 World Car of the Year" and will arrive at our dealerships later this spring."

Inventory of the current model Golf and GTI is all but depleted, and pre-sales of the new models have begun in earnest, after their public launches at the recent autoshows in Montreal and Toronto. Pricing has been announced, with a very well-equipped Golf now available from just $18,995.

Volkswagen sales were propelled by the popular Jetta compact sedan, which saw deliveries of 2,081 units during the month. The Jetta is now available with an all-new, powerful and lightweight 1.8L turbocharged engine which provides ample power and significant improvements in fuel economy over the previous engine.
