AJAX, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 04/04/12 -- Volkswagen Canada continued its string of record months after a March sales total of 5,064 new vehicles was posted by its 135 Canadian dealers. Year-to-date, the company has seen its sales figures rise more than 10% over last year's numbers to 11,712.

"A lineup full of newly redesigned models at aggressive prices has given our Dealers a powerful selling tool," stated John White, President and CEO of Volkswagen Group Canada.

Sales of the recently redesigned Jetta numbered 1,940 in March. Year-to-date Jetta sales now total 4,996, making it one of the top selling cars in Canada.

Launched last fall, the all-new Passat has made impressive gains. In March, 718 Passats were delivered, a figure 535% over last year. Year-to-date, the Passat is up over 360% to 1,570 total units. The Passat has been completely redesigned and is larger than ever before, with a starting price under $24,000.

This year marks the 60th anniversary of Volkswagen Canada. Founded in September of 1952, the company has been a proud part of the Canadian automotive landscape from its most humble beginnings, and is looking forward to the next chapter in its history.
