LOS ALTOS, CA -- (Marketwire) -- 08/23/12 -- Box today announced that Enterasys Networks, a division of Siemens Enterprise Communications, has replaced its legacy collaborative tools with Box for enterprise-wide cloud content sharing and collaboration. The Boston-based global provider of wired and wireless network solutions chose Box to address both the users' need for mobile access to content, collaboration and offline syncing and IT's requirements for centralized management and security.
"Just as we help our customers embrace cloud computing and support new devices, we are evolving our own IT strategy to meet the demands of an increasingly mobile workforce," said Dan Petlon, CIO at Enterasys Networks. "Moving to the cloud enables us to stay current with new releases, implement faster processes and brings us the power of the SaaS ecosystem. Box plays an important role in this strategy and addresses the need of the enterprise with advanced management tools, integration capabilities and the security controls needed to confidently share sensitive content in the cloud."
Prior to partnering with Box, Enterasys' sales team found it difficult to find, access and share critical content such as presentations, account plans and pipelines, from the company's SharePoint-based extranet. Sales also lacked mobile and offline access to this content, which is imperative when visiting customers. Determined to bring sales what they needed and tighten up content security, IT began evaluating products that could replace SharePoint. After a month of testing, it was clear Box solved the sales' team issues and provided IT with administration and control capabilities required to govern and protect sensitive content.
Enterasys bought licenses for its global sales organization and in just two months, they reached 90% adoption. Additional groups at Enterasys soon began to request access to Box, and six months after the initial rollout, Box has expanded to the executive management team, marketing, product management, engineering and other departments. The company is currently rolling Box out to the rest of its 1,200 employees worldwide.
Box lets Enterasys employees organize their content in a way that's intuitive and easy to use, and share both internally and externally with customers, partners and suppliers. Teams also use Box to collaborate on projects, like the engineering teams' firmware development. Box's support for a broad array of tablets and smartphones -- together with its file and folder syncing capabilities -- ensures users have access to their content anywhere on any device, whether they are online or offline.
In addition to the soft-dollar savings associated with improved user productivity and reduced IT support, the hard-dollar savings from deploying Box is significant. Enterasys reports estimated savings of well over $150,000 for raw storage costs, file server replacements and for backup once Box is fully deployed across the organization.
"The challenges that Enterasys faced are quite common with organizations of all sizes; workforces are increasingly becoming mobile and employees need secure access to content whether they are in the office or on the road," said Whitney Bouck, GM of enterprise at Box. "Our mission at Box is to help customers like Enterasys tackle issues of secure content sharing, collaboration and mobility with a service that that is both simple and intuitive for users with a deep layer of administrative control to efficiently and securely manage information across an organization."
